I am still pondering what it is about snails that we humans relate to. We find them cute (which must have something to do with the shell as we don’t seem to have the same fondness for slugs) and we admire their determination to get where they plan to go despite the challenge of a slow pace and obstacles. I enjoy the combination of fantasy and reality and this sculpture captures that. There are adventures happening all around us that we aren’t seeing.

This glass sculpture is made using a combination of techniques. The mushrooms are made in the kiln, the snail is made on a torch, and the box is made using traditional leaded glass techniques.
